History
Adrian Barrett is the founder and owner of Intrinsic General Contracting Ltd. He was born and trained in construction in England, and came to Canada to live in 2005 to set up a family with his wife Krista who was born and raised here in Vancouver. They have two beautiful children Jake & Kali both born in Canada, "our family loves the outdoors so feel we are lucky to live in the best place on Earth".
I came from a family of construction professionals, and started working with my father, a carpenter and joiner, on weekends and on summer holidays when I was 8 yrs old.
It was soon apparent to my family and I, from that early age that I had a passion for the construction industry, and would focus my career in this direction, I attended college in Devon, England to train to be a carpenter and joiner, and had the honor to win the Crocker Davey Shopfitting Trophy in 1991 for the best all round student, the Carton Bembow Trophy for Craftsmanship in 1992 awarded to the student judged to have achieved the highest excellence of practical skills, the B.J. Goss trophy in 1993 for the student who has obtained the highest standard of practical work in bench joinery. Up until 1995 (when i last checked) I was the only student to ever have won all 3 trophy's in the history of the college.
I completed my apprenticeship with an excellent company focused on high end cabinetry, carpentry and joinery projects for the banking industry, I became self employed at age 22 and ran a successful business renovating and refitting the interiors of retail stores, pharmacy's and dealerships all throughout the UK.
At age 29 I set up a Construction and Development company in my hometown which i worked for until my coming to Canada.
